Over a two year period, Unipart Logistics cut the value of products returned from Jessops’ customers by well over two thirds, from £7m to £2m.
e-fulfilment is an activity that presents challenges quite unlike those encountered in traditional retail or manufacturing supply chains. These include large product ranges, volatile demand, multiple channels and high rates of growth.
Our goal is to ensure a great customer experience to encourage repeat buying and reinforce your brand reputation. This is achieved in part by the operational skills and systems we deploy (e.g. inventory planning to ensure high levels of availability), but also by the combined energy and enthusiasm of our people and passion of our leaders to deliver continuous improvement for our clients, leading to sustained levels of performance.
However it is not just the delivery of service excellence at a competitive cost that our clients’ value. We believe that it is our role to act as supply chain architects for our clients, helping them build high velocity, agile supply chains in which we manage inbound and outbound channels, including disposal route in order minimise inventory, maximise availability and thereby protect margins.
Moreover, we have developed a model depot, a simulation tool which enables us to optimise the configuration of the fulfilment centre/supply chain and to identify capacity constraints and other blockages. This allows us to investigate tactical and strategic responses and make investment decisions in a timely fashion, that is, before the impact is felt in the operation.
